Technology can save time and open classrooms to the creative potential of computer science, but it works best in partnership with educators. In our ongoing mission to empower students of today to create the world of tomorrow, the Surface team at Microsoft is happy to share our latest investment in the Microsoft Innovative Educator community through the MIE Surface Experts program.
Hoping to connect with and nurture even more of our dedicated educators and Surface fans, today we are excited to announce a new, reinvigorated and expanded design for the Surface Expert program. Welcome to Surface Classroom Champions!
This updated community will give participants the opportunity to join informally (no more long application process!) and to connect 24-7 on a global basis, with a much larger number of other technology-driven educators and school leaders. Participating educators can connect with other Surface fans and peers more easily to share tips, tricks, best practices and support, and discover useful content like training, case studies and Surface updates, all through a new Surface education community page on the Microsoft Educator Community site, as well as a redesigned Facebook group page.
All of the great benefits from the Surface Expert program will carry over, like monthly connection calls and access to Surface product, sales and engineering teams, plus expected new benefits that include access to short-term device loans for special projects or product testing, a monthly newsletter highlighting key accomplishments made by your peers in the classroom and a new sticker to show off your Surface pride.
We’ve had great success with the Surface Experts program these past couple of years. Over 400 educators have been connected globally with their peers, giving valuable first-hand training on some of Microsoft’s and Surface’s biggest updates, and have had their voices directly heard by the Microsoft teams that create and nurture our key educational products. The positive feedback received from our Surface Experts has been overwhelming and inspirational.
“This community of educators sharing practical tips, jokes, and insights has made this group such a joy to be part of. I look forward to more inking, apps, and sharing as we use our Surfaces and many more tools to empower all of our students to achieve more.”
– Todd Beard, a K-12 technology teacher and one of our most active Surface Experts.
The Surface Classroom Champion program is open to all educators, coaches, school faculty and leadership residing in current Surface markets.
