To help you get ready for the new school year, we’re happy to introduce “Back to School LIVE,” an interactive set of online workshops, TweetMeets and tips that’ll help you get the most out of OneNote Class Notebook in Microsoft Teams, Minecraft: Education Edition, Windows 10 S and Intune for Education. Below you’ll learn more and find the upcoming schedule:
The beginning of August brings a rush of emotions for many – the woe of saying goodbye to summer and, for teachers, the anxiety and excitement of heading back to the classroom.
If your school has introduced new hardware or software over the summer, it can be overwhelming to get ramped up quickly before that first day of school. In a recent Twitter poll, 39 percent of respondents told us they’d like help in setting up their digital classrooms.
The team at Microsoft Education believes in faster, easier ways to get ready for school. We’re excited to share our first-ever “Back to School LIVE” series to help you get your classroom ready for the 2017-2018 school year. The series will kick off on August 15 with a global #MSFTEduChat TweetMeet at both 10 a.m. PDT and 4 p.m. PDT.
Next, on August 16, “Back to School LIVE” starts a day-long series of Facebook live videos on our Microsoft Education Facebook page. During these Facebook Live videos, from 11 a.m. PDT until 5:00 p.m. PDT, our team will help you get started with some of our newest tools for the classroom. With setup stress minimized and our education tools in-hand, you can collaborate seamlessly on projects, learn to code and let creativity loose from the very first day of school.

In Back to School LIVE, we’ll show you how to get started setting up your Class Notebook and how easy it is to integrate your Class Notebook into a Teams page. With Teams, not only can you distribute and grade assignments in your students’ notebooks, you can also have real-time conversations with your students during class and bring rich content from the Web – like special speakers or videos – into your Teams page to enhance curriculum.

We are also excited to announce that starting today, schools can begin to order Windows 10 S devices here!
Windows 10 S was inspired by teachers and students and streamlined for security and performance. By exclusively using apps from the Windows Store, Windows 10 S will give you longer battery life, faster boot up time, and the peace of mind that comes with using apps that are Microsoft-verified. So, if you wear many hats in your school and IT administrator is one of them, now is the time to try Windows 10 S.
In the coming months, our partners will introduce many great devices for purchase, pre-installed with Windows 10 S, starting today with the Lenovo N23 ($279 USD) and Lenovo N24 ($309 USD), available worldwide.
And coming soon:
- ASUS Vivobook W202 ($279 USD), available in the US
- Dell Latitude 3180 ($229 USD) and 3189 ($299), available in the US and Canada
- Fujitsu LIFEBOOK P727 ($999 USD), available in the US and Canada
- HP ProBook x360 11EE ($299 USD), available in the US, UK and Australia
You can also test Windows 10 S for free on eligible Windows 10 devices. This initial release will help us gather valuable feedback to make Windows 10 S work great on a range of devices in schools, so we encourage IT professionals to try it on a variety of devices and let us know what they think.
Teachers, students, and parents are also welcome to drop by their local Microsoft Store to attend a STEM Saturday workshop designed to expose kids to new skills and technology to prepare them for the jobs of the future.
Mark your calendars – our TweetMeet is on August 15th and Back to School LIVE begins on Facebook on August 16th – and make the start of the 2017-2018 school year your most exciting yet!
