Microsoft in Education @ Bett 2018
More than just a technology exhibition, Bett is an environment for attendees to develop new skills, learn from the experiences of others, and be inspired to the push boundaries of how they can blend technology and pedagogy to unlock limitless learning and enhance the way their institutions operate. There are plenty of ways to interact and learn during your time at Bett, and the Microsoft Education Campus is divided into specific areas to help you easily find information, guidance, hands-on training, and experiences related to what matters the most to you and your institution.
We are now pleased to share details of what is happening on the Microsoft Education Campus (stand E300), the different sessions and workshops available for free throughout the whole show, partner expertise and the many other ways in which you can experience Microsoft at Bett 2018.
The main Microsoft Education Campus is comprised of three areas:
Microsoft Learn Live Theatre
Starting with the Microsoft Campus, our Learn Live Theatre is back once again, with a schedule packed full of fantastic sessions run by Microsoft product experts, Partners and #MIEExperts who’ll be sharing success stories, practical guidance, and exciting news covering everything from Learning Tools & Inclusion, Minecraft in Education: Code Builder, to STEM & Future ready skills.
As well as the specific product-themed sessions, Ian Fordham (Microsoft in Education UK Director) will speak to the future landscape of “What’s New in EDU?” from Microsoft, Andy Nagle (Microsoft in Education UK CTO) will look into AI and disruptive technologies such as Mixed and Virtual Reality, and there will be deeper dives on pertinent topics including what GDPR means for academic institutions, and what steps need to be made to ensure compliance.

Microsoft Training Academies
Anyone who has attend a #MicrosoftEdu Roadshow event in recent months will attest to the value that our Microsoft Learning Consultants and MIEExperts can bring both on for individuals seeking CPD and for schools looking to embark on a journey of digital transformation. Throughout Bett we have a full schedule of Microsoft Training Academy sessions hosted by our MLCs, offering educators and school leaders the opportunity to get hands on with the latest and greatest tools that are being delivered to drive student and teacher outcomes. As well as training on Windows 10, Office 365, Teams, Sway, OneNote and more, you’ll learn how take ongoing advantage of the wealth of CPD courses, resources, lesson plans and classroom activities that are freely available on the Microsoft Educator Community.

This is the area on the stand where you can check out the latest classroom devices, management solutions and discover the latest apps for learning. We’ll be featuring a huge range of OEM devices at that can help you connect your classroom, empower your students and embrace the future. Experts will be on hand to guide you through demonstrations and answer and of your questions around the devices themselves, and how you can manage them at an individual, classroom or institutional level.
We’ll also have the Surface family of devices on the stand, including Surface Pro, Surface Laptop, Surface Studio, Surface Book and Surface Hub.

Microsoft Partner Campus
A key part of how we seek to empower the educators and learners of today to build the world of tomorrow are our Microsoft in Education Partners. As part of the Microsoft in Education Campus (E300) we have a whole section dedicated to showcasing a number of our partners, and the value they can bring to your institution, in areas such as Office 365, STEM, licensing, teaching and learning tools, Azure, Windows 10 and security. It is a truly hands-on experience, with five distinct areas: Activate Learning; Game-Based Learning; Tools for Learning; STEM; and Community Lounge.

Elsewhere at Bett
Bett Arena Keynote: The Future of Digital Learning – Anthony Salcito
Technology has changed the way we all learn. Our schools and learning environments have greater potential to empower every student to learn at their own pace, in their own way, with insights driving a more personal connection. This session will share insights into ‘what’s ahead for the Class of 2030’. We’ll also share how data, machine learning and artificial intelligence will power the future of personalised and predictive learning environments and empower educators and schools to shift the dynamics of the traditional school and classroom. The era of automation is winding down the time for true transformation is upon us.
Head over to the Bett Arena on Wednesday 24th January between 15:00-16:15 to hear from Anthony, as well as some special guests.
Microsoft IT and Partner Boot Camps
In addition to those exhibiting on the stand, there is a series of Microsoft IT and Partner Bootcamp sessions running from Wednesday to Friday, tailored specifically for IT Administrators and Independent Software Vendors. Topics covered include moving into the cloud with Microsoft Education, deploying Windows 10 with Intune for Education, integrating our free API’s across Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Graph and OneNote Class Notebooks, and a special session for those using Capita SIMS.

Microsoft’s Solutions Showcase provides a great opportunity to meet with fellow leaders in education from around the globe. We will also share insight on trends and observations from the Microsoft Worldwide Education leadership team and from Microsoft’s partners driving change around the globe. Hacking STEM Pop-up Classroom Series
Spend Saturday learning by doing when you participate in this hands-on, interdisciplinary STEM Workshop designed by teachers for teachers. Participants will use engineering, design and computational thinking skills to build tools from everyday materials that enables visualising real time data about real world scenarios. The Hacking STEM Pop-up Classroom Series will run from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday the 27th in Platinum Suite 1 with FREE LUNCH provided for all attendees.
